Dhaliwal Sweets & Restaurant on Fraser St., Vancouver

My office celebrated a colleague’s birthday on Christmas eve. We ordered take out from Dhaliwal Sweets & Restaurant as the birthday girl is from Gujarat.

We had Fish Pakora as starter. The fish is marinated in yogurt, ginger, garlic

The Chicken Biryani was quite spicy.

The Prawn Goa Curry was creamy and mild, cooked with ginger, garlic, onion and coconut milk. The prawns were on the skimpy side.

The Lamb Tikka Masala was spicy (in term of spices not spicy hot) and the sauce is thicker. The boneless lamb is cooked with fresh onion sauce, bell pepper & spices.

We enjoyed the Prawn Goa Curry and Lamb Tikka Masala with some naan. The naan was chewy and not as fluffy as expected.

Some Tandoori Chicken for all the meat eaters. The chicken is marinated in yogurt, ginger, garlic mixed in Indian spices and cooked in a tandoor.  This is served with butter sauce.

Some chutney and yogurt side dish to go with the tandoori and biryani.

The birthday girl is a vegetarian. She had Chana Puri which is chickpeas, archaar & salad.

The Chana Puri came with 2 pieces of puri. I had some of the puri and it was more tender than the naan.

A Tiramisu cake to end the meal. It was a lovely birthday party cum Christmas party. We wished the birthday girl’s birthday wish to come true.
