One Skillet Ground Beef Straganoff

I am back at the South Arm Community Kitchen after missing one of the kitchen due to personal commitment.

In this kitchen, Minoo shared another three recipes. The main course is a One Skillet Ground Beef Stroganoff.

We served the beef strognaoff with a side dish of Crunchy Bok Choy Slaw. I had blogged about it here.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 onion, diced

Banzai Sushi House on Westminster Hwy, Richmond

I have not blogged about Banzai Sushi House for a number of years even though we had been eaten here or take out party tray.

We came here on a Saturday around 11AM. We were practically the first eat in customers. There were already some take out orders which is popular here.

Nanzaro ordered the Salmon Don. The salmon sashimi was a generous portion. This is $10.95.

Arkensen ordered a Golden Roll and a Vancouver Roll. The Golden Roll is made with chopped scallop and topped with smoked salmon. The Vancouver Roll is basically California roll topped with smoked salmon. The rolls are $5.45 and $4.45 respectively. Continue reading

Shawarma Palace at Sands Plaza, Richmond

On a weekend evening, Ben, I and Arkensen went out for dinner. Nanzaro opted out to dine out as he was watching a hockey game. It’s the season for ice hockey again.

Ben wanted something light and picked Shawarma Palace as we have not been here before except for Nanzaro.

Customer orders and pays at the counter. The food is prepared right in front of the customers.

Ben and I shared a Mixed Platter for $12.99. The platter comes with salad, spicy garlic potatoes, rice and hummus. Continue reading

Tasty Indian Bistro on 120th St, Delta

My family was in the Delta/Surrey neighbourhood for a special event. So, we decided to have lunch here after the event.

Ben brought us to Tasty Indian Bistro in Delta. We were there before noon and got a parking spot without problem. But when we left, the parking lot was full. As we exited the restaurant, a lady approached us and asked us if we were leaving. She then stood at our spot and made a call, probably for someone that has been looking for a parking spot.

The decoration looks on the high end side.

I like the bronze cutlery.

Arkensen ordered from the lunch special; Non-veg Special for CAD13. He opted for the Goat Curry. The other option is Butter Chicken. The lunch special came with 2 pieces of Tandoori chicken on top of some basmati rice. Continue reading

AnAr Restaurant at President Plaza Foodcourt, Richmond

When Ben and I were having our evening walk, we found a new Persian restaurant in the President Plaza Foodcourt.

I remembered Minoo had just mentioned to me about a Persian restaurant in a Chinese mall on Cambie Street that she would like to introduce to me before we stumbled upon this place. This must be it. According to Minoo, this restaurant is run by a brother and sister.

Ben and I shared a Kubideh which the owner told us is a skewer made with a combination of minced beef and lamb. It was a generous helping with grilled tomatoes and salad. It was the end of the day and we paid the $11 dollar dish with a $20 note. The owner gave us a change of $10 because she did not have small change and neither do us. She said it’s ok. But, we returned the next day with the family as I know Nanzaro loves Persian food. I paid her the $1 that I owed her the next day.

Nanzaro had the same dish. He loves it. Continue reading

Moonpennies on West Pender St. Vancouver

Nanzaro went for a run at the Stanley Park seawall on his day off, early in the morning.

After his run, he went for his breakfast at Moonpennies at Coal Harbour.

Moonpennies serves breakfast all day.

Nanzaro had the Two Egg Breakfast for CAD9. He had the sunny side up eggs and multigrain toast, sausage and housemade potatoes. It’s just a typical western breakfast.

He had coffee to go with his breakfast.

The bill came to CAD12.30 including tax and tips.

Credit card is accepted here.

Continental Seafood Restaurant on Cambie Road, Richmond

Some of the praise dance group participants attended the following luncheon, including me.

The speaker is highly recommended by those who had heard his talk before. The talk at this luncheon is about happiness in work place. How many of you all are happy with what you are doing at work?

The ticket for this luncheon is CAD15 and held at the Continental Seafood Restaurant on Cambie Road, Richmond.

The luncheon started with a dim sum item, i.e. siu mai. Continue reading

Tin Tin Seafood Harbour Restaurant on No. 3 Road, Richmond

Emily celebrated her birthday with me, Dora and Lorna at Tin Tin Seafood Harbour Restaurant.

We had booked a table for 5:30PM. When we were there, there was no customer yet. So, we told the server we will returned half an hour later. We went to Yaohan to do some shopping first.

When we returned, the restaurant had some customers already but not too busy yet.

Lorna had the honour to do the ordering. The above is Seafood Lettuce Wrap. The iceberg lettuce was very fresh and crisp. The seafood filings were made with shrimps, scallop and vegetables like carrots and water chestnut which give it some crunch. Continue reading
